Simple rocks gleam like Precious stones in the
Sheen of the water and Glow of the fading sun.
Fragments of shells
Are as delicate and masterful As the finest pottery When touched by the water.
Yet, pick them up,
And the magic fades.
The rocks are again simple And the shells are broken.
Even the whole ones Are plain without the sea.
And to take them
From that glow of the final Breath of daylight Is to steal.
